571: Klamath Falls
Old Homedale Market isn’t there no more,
and neither he who owned the old saloon.
But somethin’ is. Some fresh, green-painted store,
by some new, fancy, money-backed tycoon.
I’m sure they like it better who stay there
like I did when the old one was alive.
Back when the old man didn’t seem to care
when I’d stop in, unpaying, for a dive.
But I don’t know. Could be the old place had
its share of problems worse than this one’s got.
Good business often happens to be bad,
and bad if any badness it has not.
Either way, Homedale’s different now. And I
would fail to bring it back, were I to try.
