CXLIII: Oblations, good or ill, we all must give
If e'er a man has ever, better, been
when free from all oblations that may be,
it's not a man that I have ever seen;
nor ever has that kind of man been me.
For man will worship something, if he lives.
To hearken to but nothing is a lie.
One's aimless time will seep into the sieves
that hunger for his time as he comes by.
But if he chooses what his cause will be,
and wax his body sore in its defense,
his cup will fill, and every eye shall see
the good or ill he'll win forever hence.
But I've ne’er known a worship to destroy,
that's founded on a true and living Joy.
