LXXVII: A Noble Knight?
A knight has risen! From the very side
wherefrom the antics that we so abhor
were spawned—and there, from in their ranks, shall stride
a newly-colored banner-bearer’s corps!
Or, if he is as he has ever been,
his flag shall merely be a dancing light.
It’s not as if his virtue’s been akin
to some who’ve given all to be upright.
I s’pose that we shall see. It’s early now,
we won't know where this goes for three more years.
But if he’s able—if his crowds endow—
we may just see the end of many tears.
What e’er became of us? Are we so down,
we wait to watch the rich fight for a crown?
