VII: Vineyard
“Why work ye in this Vineyard all alone?”
“Tis here, this Vineyard, where my Master sued.”
“But all these trees? For only you to hone?”
“The others are but elsewhere in a feud.”
“Some Master, then, to leave you without aid.”
“This time shall give me ample time for thought.”
“Your hands alone He surely shall upbraid!”
“Not mine, but those who put His work at naught.”
“What work is it He asks of you forsooth?”
“A kindly effort for His weary hands.”
“His hands? He seeks from this His wounds to soothe?”
“To soothe His servants is what He demands.”
“Then you are here to bide the day of peace?”
“To make it one where peace will never cease.”
